English Carol #12 - I Saw A Maiden The lyrics are fundamentally the same from my carol posted on December 8th, Myn Lyking. Adapted from the old english text from the 1400’s, it is interesting to hear this setting juxtaposed against the text from Myn Lyking. Aside from an additional verse, there are some subtle changes. See if you can catch them - still an astoundingly beautiful text. I saw a fair mayden sytten and singS he lulled a little childe, a sweete Lording. Lullay mye lyking, my dere sonne, my sweeting. Lully mydere herte, myn own dere derling. That same Lord is he that made alle thing, Of alle lord is his is lord, of alle kynges King. There was mickle melody at that chyldes birth All that were in heavnly bliss, they made mickle myrth. Angels bright sang their song to that chyld; Blyssid be thou, and so be she, so meek and so mild. https://youtube/watch?v=GDZoY6Uo81I
