(English and italian version) - Messaggio Fotografico di Sandro Sansone (25/10/2014) (Realizzato in esclusiva per POP - facebook/pescinicomposer ) - Fotografo: Massoud Hossaini (1981) Suicide bombing - On December 6 2011, in the bright, sharp sunshine of early winter in Kabul, a suicide bomber infiltrated a crowd of worshippers as they gathered at the Abul Fazl shrine to mark one of the holiest days on the Shia Muslim calendar. More than 80 people were killed when the bomber detonated the explosives that filled his backpack. Witnesses told of bodies and limbs flying in the air. Among the injured was the Afghan photojournalist Massoud Hossaini, whose image of the aftermath of the attack won him this years Pulitzer Prize for breaking news photography. Hossaini, whose family had fled Afghanistan to Iran when he was a baby to escape the war with the Soviet Union, returned to Kabul in 2002 and trained as a photographer. He has covered the Ashura festival -- when Shias commemorate the murder of Imam Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed, in AD680 -- every year since. For the past 10 years I have covered Ashura at Abul Fazl; this is a normal thing for me to do in Kabul and so I did not expect that anything would happen, Hossaini, 30, said. As a photographer with the French news agency AFP, Hossaini covers Afghanistans ongoing war for a living -- suicide attacks, bomb blasts, assaults and sieges. Massoud Hossaini è nato a Kabul il 10 dicembre 1981, durante loccupazione da parte dellUnione Sovietica. La sua famiglia fuggì in Afghanistan in Iran quando aveva sei mesi, dopo che suo padre, un sostenitore dellopposizione alloccupazione è stato arrestato dal regime comunista. Hossaini finito il liceo nel 1996, quando il Movimento Riformisti è nato in Iran, si unì a loro come attivista politico. Aveva capito che era importante registrare gli eventi di cui era testimone e scelse la fotografia.
