Enid Markey, the first Jane in a Tarzan film, is buried in Dillon - TopicsExpress

Enid Markey, the first Jane in a Tarzan film, is buried in Dillon Cemetery, Dillon, Colorado, close to our family plot. I discovered this a few years ago when I was a member of the Dillon Cemetery Advisory Committee, and I was preparing bios of some of the people buried in the cemetery for an upcoming historical tour. I found this an interesting synchronicity because when I was a youth, I was all things Tarzan. The first book series I read was Tarzan, starting at age 8, and by the time I was 12 I had set my lifetime goal as becoming the new and definitive jungle lord, with my domain to be the South American rainforest. My job would be rescuing beautiful princesses. So at 14 I started the development program for this by getting into body building and developed an excellent physique. The gig never worked out, however. But also synchronistically, in the 1980s, I interviewed one of the elderly Markey family members in Frisco, Colorado, for a newspaper column I wrote. I didnt know until almost 30 years later about the Tarzan connection with this family. Dillon Cemetery, by the way, is quite interesting. It is the only cemetery to ever have been patented. At 9,000 feet, it overlooks gorgeous Lake Dillon. It is in a beautiful natural mountain setting. Colorful Old West characters are buried here and there throughout the place. Worth a visit if you enjoy looking at old headstones. Also, a great spot for a picnic. I have spent the night there a few times next to our loved ones grave, and there was nothing creepy about it; in fact, I imagined that I was surrounded by the beneficent spirits of those buried there, who were dropping in from wherever in order to make me feel welcome during my visits. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enid_Markey
