Enjoyed a wonderful, intimate dinner with my husband and two children at our usual Easter spot in Strathmere...Mildreds Restaurant. As I was getting dressed for dinner, my telephone rang and as I went to pick it up, the caller ID said UNDISCLOSED CALLER. I almost did not answer it but for some reason today, I did. I said...Hello and the voice on the other end said...Can I speak to Janet? I responded...This is Janet. Then, the voice said...Hi Janet, this is ROBIN ROBERTS. At that point...my mind went blank and I let out a scream. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! She explained that my cousin Renee contacted her via e-mail and told her my story. Renees husband is the Technical Director at ABC out of Philly and he had access to her e-mail address. Robin and I talked for over 45 minutes. I cried, I laughed, I talked, I listened and WE SHARED!!!! She was so down to Earth and easy to talk to and, of course, INSPIRATIONAL!!! She gave me her e-mail address and we came up with a catch phrase for the e-mail subject bar...a private catch phrase that will be her clue that the e-mail is from me. She offered to be my personal coach to help me as I go through my journey. She told me that I could contact her at any time and she will respond back to me. ROBIN ROBERTS IS TRULY THE BEST and I can not thank my cousin Renee enough for making this very special connection for me. Tomorrow morning, I am scheduled for my surgery to have the portacath inserted. I must be at the hospital by 6AM. Tuesday will begin my first cycle of chemotherapy. I will now be entering the next phase...the treatments prior to the transplant. It will all become very real for me in less than 10 hours. Robins phone call was perfect timing as I was very depressed...she gave me encouragement! The Easter Blessing that I so desperately needed.
