Enough is enough. The time is one minute before Midnight in Lebanon. It is time to wake up and to wake each other up. It is time to shake ourselves out of our state of apathy. To shake ourselves out of our state of unwillingness to take action to rescue Lebanon, the Lebanese people and Lebanese history and traditions from the vice-like grip of indifference. It is time to recognise what a jewel our country is. Mountains and the Mediterranean certainly. But also 4000 years of history, tradition and culture. It is time to abandon the protective shield of silence. To abandon sticking our head, ostrich like, into the sand hoping the problems will go away, or someone else will take responsibility for solving them. It is time forLebanese children to be taught civic responsibility as a key subject in the school curriculum. It is time to stop polluting and destroying our forests, rivers and countryside. It is time to stop burying the ancient beauty of our towns under piles of concrete. It is time to recognise that money is not the be all and end all. It cannot be eaten and breathed. It is time for each of us - individually and together - to stand up, to take responsibility and to take action. It is time to take responsibility for the future of Lebanon, of our families and of our way of life. It is time to take pride once again in Lebanon - our Lebanon - and being Lebanese. Enough is enough. I will do my bit. Michel Nassif.
