Entry 17 I fade in and out of consciousness to find myself slipping through the closed doorway into what we now call “the mine shaft”….although we now realize it is so much more. Slowly, languidly, inexorably…just a bit fearfully….I make my way towards my mysterious destination. Gradually, the light at the end of the tunnel again emerges, finally revealing the cavern I remember, and the deity I cannot stop dreaming of - emerging from…or perhaps dissolving into - the encroaching damp rocks. To the forbidding figure I ask, “Where am I? How did I get here? What is this place? Who has summoned me?” Although a hundred questions arise fully formed in my mind, the persuasive silence stills them in my throat, and I ask no more. Somehow I know the answers I seek will come to me…. Unspoken…. As I fade from consciousness, I let the blackness overtake me….
