#Entry4 … And she got her freedom Children were running on streets, lot of buzzwas around her. Every hand carried a tricolor. Cracker sounds were audible from the distant bungalow of Maharaja. Sweet packets were being laden on donkeys’ back which were to be delivered to another town, where Maharaja’s kin lived. All scenes passing through her eyes, it felt like she was day-dreaming. Raima, the 9 year old girl, had never seen so much happiness in village. She ran to her mother and innocently enquired about all the chaos. Her mother asked her not to go out of home and said “they can come back again.” She ran to her father to get a satisfactory answer, her father, a bold farmer, told her,“they have gone my child, they have gone, now you can go anywhere, anytime, you can make friends, you can play and live happily, freedom my child. Our mother, our land… yes, she got her freedom.” And I turned the page of newspaper after reading this beautiful story, what I saw there shocked my soul. The headline said, “A 23 year old girl brutally raped in bus” – And I asked to myself, “Did she really get her freedom?” Written By: Raman Kumar, PGDM student at Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship.
