Ephesians 1:3 KJV - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: What an awesome verse of Scripture! Two words jump out at me in that verse...hath and all. First of hath means past tense, already accomplished, finished work, done deal! And all, meaning, of course, everything, nothing left out or forgotten...just ALL! So, that means that God already HAS, (not someday will, in the unspecified future, in the sweet by-and-by...but already HAS), blessed us with ALL, (not a couple, or a few, or even quite a few...but ALL) spiritual blessings in Christ. So what exactly ARE all these spiritual blessings that God already has blessed us with? Just keep reading in this passage, (and throughout the rest of Ephesians, really). He chose us before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before God (v. 4). He predestined us to be adopted as Gods children (v. 5). He has made us accepted (v.6). Redemption (v.7), and forgiveness of sins (v.7). Revelation of the mystery of Gods purpose (V. 8). A heavenly inheritance (v. 11). Sealed with the Holy Spirit (v. 13) Quickened together with Christ (v. 2:5). Saved by grace (vv 2:5, 8). Raised up and seated in heavenly places with Christ (v. 6) The wall of hostility between Jew and Gentile has been removed, and we are made co-heirs of the promises (vv 2:11-19). We have access to God, and may boldly approach Him (v. 3:12) We are being perfected for the work of the ministry (v. 4:12) we are light in the Lord (v. 5:8) We have the armor of God, with which to stand against the wiles of the devil (vv 6:11-18) These blessings we have in Christ. Not because were anything special in ourselves. But because of Gods love and mercy, made available to us through the shed blood of Jesus. We had nothing... But now we have everything because Jesus gave up everything for us! Praise be to God!
