Epilepsy in Kenya Epilepsy has been a major epidemic in Kenya. Most of the victims are facing stigmatization and isolation. Cultural beliefs and misconceptions have contributed to the increase of the disease. People believe that it is due to witchcraft and curses. Victims are not even supposed to come in contact with the other people. Patients end up dying due to ignorant. Way Forward Many Kenyan people lack enough information concerning epilepsy. Government and Non-governmental organizations must intervene with laid strategies to enlighten her citizens. Raising awareness among the general public will improve their lives positively. All institutions have to learn it and let the students be well informed. Social media and Facebook have to be used to connect and communicate to Epilepsy Society to take quick action. There is need for more research to look into the genetic role on epilepsy. Research will definitely bring a way forward. Statistics in UK has shown that epilepsy affects half a million people and there are 1000 epilepsy related deaths each year. In Kenya about 21K people are suffering from epilepsy. Campaigns have to be launched like for cancer and polio. This will ensure that there is no discrimination in handling the contagious diseases. By Sebastian
