Today, Nuwara Eliya is a major tea growing region in Sri Lanka. Its mild climate and high altitude help for the cultivation of a tea that has a distinct flavor, a high quality orange pekoe tea. Orange pekoe tea from this region is considered among the worlds finest. This area is also popular with bird watchers because of the various bird species that congregation in the region. It is also a major base for trips to Horton Plains National Park. The park is home to Worlds End, a cliff with a sheer drop of 4000 ft.
