Equal Skys - Donate Old Clothes/Toys/Books drive is scheduled for 13th September 2014, 10am to 4pm outside MORE, Clubhouse. While we clear our shelves and cupboards to make place for new books ,toys and clothes, lets be happy that our donations are reaching and lighting up the lives of the very needy children . Donating used books helps give the less fortunate access to a larger world through the wonders of reading. We receive a lot of syllabus books during our drive, but most of the NGOs do not accept ICSE/CBSE/IG board books as these children study in Govt schools that follow state syllabus. We are therefore contemplating buying new notebooks by selling the collection of old academic books. These notebooks will be distributed amongst the needy children of our associates. We welcome inputs/suggestion from residents about any information on NGOs that accept ICSE/CBSE/IG syllabus books . Please write to us at equalskyteam@gmail Look forward to your wholehearted co-operation and support for our drive. We have partnered with the following NGOs for this drive: 1.Clothes - Goonj (goonj.org) 2.Toys - Vidyaranya (vidyaranya.org) 3.Books - India Literacy Project (ilpnet.org), Hippocampus Learning Centres (hlc.org.in) The following are the requirements of our social associates for this drive: New note books, long exercise books, Syllabus Books Compass boxes, stationary, usable toys, usable games Used prams and strollers Crayons, poster colours/acrylic colours/water colours Childrens story books in English and Kannada and Hindi, carpets ( Washed) for Angawadi Centres, sports shoes (washed) Dictionaries ( English Kannada / Hindi) Childrens Films / cartoons Educational CDs/DVDs Used Raincoats/Umbrellas Old School Uniforms/Shoes in pairs tied together /Water Bottles/ Lunch boxes Old Clothes of all ages Woolens and Blankets This time we are also collecting dry ration such as Rice and Dal for our associate Goonj as part of Rahat Floods for the thousands of villages completely devastated in parts of Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, U.P and Uttarakhand, while the news hasn’t been able to get the headline space.
