Erik Middelman Innovation Award The Erik Middelman Innovation award is an annual award from the NWBA for people with long lasting involvement in Hydrogen Energy and the right drive to implement changes. Erik was an entrepreneur who many of you will remember as practical and inventive with the right attitude to get things done. This year we have evaluated several nominees and found one candidates to comply with the selection criteria and at the same time has the same drive, knowledge and motivation skills to get things moving the way Erik could. Ian Williamson has been been working at Air Products, one of the leading Industrial Gases companies, in several functions, but most important when he managed the Hydrogen Energy activities. During this period he was one of the drivers behind the establishment of the JTI on NEW ENERGY when it was not even a JTI yet. Further, he served as president of the European Hydrogen Association (EHA) and Director of the UK Hydrogen and Fuel Cell association.He has also been a Vice President of PATH (the Partnership for the Transition to Hydrogen) and a Director of CENEX (the UK’s Centre of Excellence for Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technologies).Three years ago he moved from Air Products to AFC in order to become the CEO of a fuel cell manufacturing company AFC.
