Escape Plan (2013): ~Plot: Sylvester Stallone plays a man who makes a living breaking out of prisons to prove that they are flawed. When he gets sent to a top-secret prison designed to be full-proof, he finds himself in over his head. He teams up with Arnold Schwarzenneger in an effort to find an escape plan and find freedom. From start to finish this film has that classic sense of pun-like humor often found in Sylvester and Arnold’s movies, which is a touch I quite enjoyed. There were points were the movie seemed to progress more slowly, but it seemed that even in such times you were being fed important information. The things they managed to pull off were quite brilliant, and oh my, so many twists and turns in this film. I give the plot a 3.5, just because I think that there were some parts that drug a little more than they should and the movie just felt long. ~Casting/Acting: The casting was perfect. I couldnt pick anyone I would rather see as this duo, or in the supporting cast. The acting has their traditional corniness to it, but that is part of what makes their movies enjoyable. There is only one part of the movie that the acting was forced. Overall well done. However, if you are the type of person who is bothered by a slight amount of cheesiness to a film, then you may be a little irked with this movie. Therefore, I give it a 4 for your sake. ~Directing/Film Quality: Well directed. You could really get into the scenes with the close ups, and it helped the movie feel more fluid. However, when watching the more normal scenes, I feel like some of this uniqueness was lacking. I give the directing a 3. The effects were good, but not great and some parts felt like they could use a little more power. ~Intensity: The film was pretty intense, as I didn’t want to look away because I could miss something important. Also, I had a few of those moments where I was like “What did I just watch? That was great!” However, in those moments where thing slowed down I think it lost some of that. Still, it was interesting enough to keep me watching even through the slower parts. 4 ~Would I watch it again: Yes. I can’t say that it is a movie I would watch all the time or anything, but giving it another view? Sure. It made me laugh and cheer and want more. I would recommend it. 4 So, this movie earned three 4s, a 3, and a 3.5. This gives the movie a 3.7, or what I would round to a 3.5 star movie. What do you think?
