Esteemed P.E.A.C.E. Makers, This is the schedule for the City - TopicsExpress

Esteemed P.E.A.C.E. Makers, This is the schedule for the City Budget hearings scheduled this week. (Please forward this email far and wide to those you know care about these services) They fill 10-20 tables of 8 or 10 people. as you walk in, sign in, they assign you to a table. They City Mgr. Makes a 15-20 minit presentation. The presentation is very enlightening about how much officers are paid and how we compare to the rest of the state in terms of what our city (thats us!) pays the officers and how we pay for twice as many dependents of theirs than any other city in Texas. Then, they ask us to discuss@the tables to answer the following questions: 1. What we want left alone (i.e., ALL Domestic Violence services provided by the city) 2. What we want to be added to the budget? 3. How will we pay for it? Then each table reports back to the large group the out come of their discussions. Since the domestic violence services are lumped into the Public Safety part of the budget it is not addressed per se in the discussions. This is why it is imperative that we are there to bring it up at the tables for discussion and to ensure that for the record we want -- ALL domestic violence services left in place...period. The time is now !!! please step up and come to the meetings this week. We need to have at lease -1 to 2 DV advocates (That means YOU) at each table so the city manager, the police, the city staff and the community leaders see and hear how much support there is for the domestic violence services in the community. Oh and I hope all of you have already sent in your letters/notes to the mayor, your city council district representative and they city manager. Please BCC me here at the P.E.A.C.E. Initiative at patpeacesa@gmail. Thanks so much and hope to see you all this week. Patricia @ P.E.A.C.E. Please forward this email far and wide to those you know care about these services.
