Esther 4:15-17 Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer, Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish. So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all the Esther had commanded him. (KJV) Mordecai’s counsel prepared Esther’s mind for the purpose God had from the beginning for elevating her position. Counsel may prepare your mind, but only fervent prayer can prepare your spirit for the vast undertakings that come with it being your time. No one counsel will prepare your heart like prayer. Esther knew that prayer undergirds the spirit and keeps a person from sagging beneath the weight of opposition. Not only did she pray, but everyone under her authority prayed as well. It is difficult to work with people who do not pray. Prayer is a strong defense against satanic attack.
