Etana Office Development on the ridge next to The Wilds Etana - TopicsExpress

Etana Office Development on the ridge next to The Wilds Etana Insurance have purchased several derelict properties on the ridge above St Patrick’s Road, with the view to developing an office park. During 2012 they approached the Upper Houghton Residents’ Association, King Edwards, St John’s and Roedean, seeking our blessing on this development. The houses in question had been lying derelict for several years, and had been occupied by vagrants. There was a concern about the future of the area. We were anxious about security, and in particular the lack of security in The Wilds led to various criminal activities near the Pre Prep. After several meetings with Etana, all the parties gave their blessing to a well considered development which did not change the skyline and preserved the treed environment, subject to a proper traffic report for the area. Etana have considered the needs of St John’s College and are willing to provide parking in St Patrick’s Road and on the property at the corner of St Patrick’s and Stone Road. They have also agreed to support the elimination of criminal activity operating from The Wilds. The Council of St John’s College considered all these issues and felt that it was unlikely that these houses would revert back to residential use, and that if the traffic concerns could be allayed, then the increased security, the opportunity to use safe parking on Saturdays and the provision of additional parking in St Patrick’s Road would be beneficial. It was also perceived that Etana were a reputable company who had shown their willingness to work with St John’s College. St John’s is presently hiring an independent traffic consultant to examine the traffic report. Roger Cameron Headmaster
