Eternal Moments This is one of many promises concerning David. God uses two human body parts to describe His support for David. First He mentions His hand which brings to mind lots of things. Hands are symbolic of providing, holding, under girding, guiding, defending, and cleansing; just to name a few. Second He mentions arms. An arm is symbolic of authority, encouragement, power, and confidence! When God sustains you, He ministers to your physical needs. When God strengthens you, He ministers to your spiritual needs. You have no idea how many enemies lined up against you simply because you were chosen. God made it clear that David was His chosen, regardless of Davids track record. Before you get too carried away, dont forget that your rap sheet mysteriously disappeared too! Some versions use the word establish in place of strengthen. To establish means to fasten, set in order, and to permanently fix.
