Ethiopia Slips down 7 places in FIFA ranking Despite a penalty shutout victory over Rwanda and a cup final place in the CHAN Championships cup final, Ethiopia slipped down 7 places to sit 102nd in the latest FIFA world soccer Ranking. Spain is still in the driving seat of the world football, while cote d’Ivoire tops the African table. Leading the world cup African qualification group table, Ethiopia had recently been ranked 95th, a record, in the July index. However, the August ranking kicked Ethiopia seven steps down, taking everyone by surprise. In the meantime, Cote d’Ivoire is also five steps down to sit in 18th place in the world table, but remained on top of the African table. Ghana,Mali,Algeria, Nigeria, Cape Verde Islands, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Tunisia and Zambia are among the African top ten. Europe and World Champions Spain still leads the table, followed by Germany, Colombia, Argentina, the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Brazil and Belgium taking the top ten spots in world football.
