Ethnographic research seeks to investigate the cultural - TopicsExpress

Ethnographic research seeks to investigate the cultural phenomena(es) or entity(es) through observation in the real-life socio-cultural context without manipulation of any kinds. An ethnographic research is said to be contextual (based on real life context), unobstuctive ( lacking of any sorts of obstruction/hindrance from any sides), longitudinal ( to be continued for a long period of time), collaborative( active assistance to the researcher from others), interpretive ( being able to interpret), and organic( strong interaction between hypothesis and data and their interpretation) [Nunan,1992]. Although this study of the behaviour of the group of people provides the researcher the opportunities of direct observation for field work through direct contact with relevant people and places along with strong link with theory on the collection of direct data holistically, there is acute difficulties of gaining the access to natural settings and more chances of getting stand-one narrative description using the subjective views and belief systems of the participants and more possibilities of weak reliability of the data longitudinally.
