Even at her weakest, there is no halting the activism, common - TopicsExpress

Even at her weakest, there is no halting the activism, common sense and wit that our wonderful sister Sabiha carries through her soul. She asked me to share this with you all: Adam, I was walking down the hospital corridor with my IV drip and the announcement went off for Remembrance Day, so I carry on walking. After being scornfully glared at and returning from my little stroll, the nurse reminded me that I was supposed to stand still for a couple of minutes and that I shouldnt disrespect the dead and those who are fighting now. Like I had zero energy to expend with this nurse but I know deep down that the only thing worse than the insomnia (due to illness) that I am feeling right now would be to fall asleep with unsaid words in my heart. So I said With all due respect I wont stand still in remembrance of the blood bath justified by militarism, I am going to carry on walking for all the dead that should have been here today and not partake in a ritual of the majority, which in my lifetime seems to be growing into ever more substantially ceremonial celebration of war. Respect the dead even if your wars were futile, but dont hijack the day to justify current escapades of slaughter and unnecessary sacrifice. The rest of the day meant being met with a harsh tongue but it reminded me that even with the truth one should continue walking alone. - Sabiha
