Even since I read Sirens of Titan, I adore Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. I - TopicsExpress

Even since I read Sirens of Titan, I adore Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. I met him in the winter of 1980. He had given a talk at the Boston Public Library, then he was autographing books at the Harvard Bookstore, which had been around the corner of Newbury St. I had an armload of paperbacks for him to autograph. He was a dear, sweet man. I told him Harry LeSabre was my favorite character he created and, whenever I needed a good laugh, I read the bit about Harry in his grass skirt on Hawaii Day at the car dealership from Breakfast Of Champions. He laughed a lot at that. He laughed! I was so glad I was able to make him laugh, as he has always brought so much entertainment to me!
