Even though its been six years already, since there should be a new Metallica album soon, I wanted to state my thoughts on Death Magnetic. I grew up in the 90s with Load, Reload, and then just when I thought it couldnt get any worse they gave us St. Anger. With Magnetic, I thought musically they were finally back. By far some of the best stuff I had heard from Hammett in many years, and even some of the best playing Id heard from Lars in Idk how long. Good progressive song structures, good execution, a step in the right direction. My problems were 1: Hetfields vocals. Hes STILL trying to sing like Ronnie Van Zandt, which I feel diluted some of the power of the material. Honestly; Can it be that hard for him to just start barking and yelling again like he did in the old days? 2: All those years of my adolescence when my friends and I hoped and prayed they would come back and never did (in the 90s when Metal needed them the most). The Napster bullshit, the ridiculous documentary, after all those years of selling out and making utter fools of themselves, it was kind of just too little too late. We needed that album in 98 not 08. IMO
