Even without these proposed cuts, Medicare already fails to cover adequate costs in approximately 35 percent of dialysis facilities nationwide. Now, with these ominous proposed cuts on the horizon, reimbursements for dialysis would decrease another $30 per treatment. Lower reimbursements would worsen what is already a dialysis funding crisis and could force facilities to reduce staffing or close facilities. These reductions would be passed on to patients, limiting access to the life-saving care they need.
