Evening all. Well the Doctor told us that Libertys eyes would be - TopicsExpress

Evening all. Well the Doctor told us that Libertys eyes would be worse before they were better. He wasnt lying. All of the junk that has been stuck behind her eyes is now breaking loose and coming out. The worst part is that I am only allowed to clean the crust off since the chance for a scratch on the eye itself is great and that could cause an infection in the eyeball itself. I feel like the worlds worst dog owner ever letting her have junk on her eyes.. Liberty is better this afternoon but still not herself yet. I feel bad for the poor girl. Twice a day she gets ear medication, Lasix, and eye medication. In addition the day before this started she got her next dose of slow kill for the heart worms. :( She does however love the medication for the fluid build up. It may just be the smoked Boston Butt I am wrapping it in, but I happen to like to delude myself into just thinking that she is the greatest dog ever and takes her pills like a good girl... lol Yea right! The weather is cool here and that girl loves to be outside. I check on her often but she just lays around with the most content look on her face. I cant bear to ruin that right now so I leave the screen door open on the back porch and when she get ready she comes to the door. I figure it this way, she is at peace and with all that is going on if the grass makes her happy then that is where she will be. :) It amazes me how dogs KNOW things. When she comes in every dog comes up to her and licks her or wags their tail. it is like they are making sure she is OK. She just sits real still on her bed and as each dog interact with her she wags her tail as if to thank them.. Once they visit her they all go back and lay (Is it lay or lie, I can never remember. lol) down.. Her bed is right by my chair so I can keep a close eye on her. As I have said before she is my first rescue, other than Tristian, that as not well on the road to recovery when I got them. I always worry about each one of my dogs but she I knew would take a while to get through what had happened to her. She is my caterpillar, my diamond in the rough. Her wiry hair is still falling out and being replaced by new hair, her eyes are finally shedding the mucus surrounding them. Her ears are starting to sit fully upright again, her honking has stopped, it is now just a slight cough, one day soon she will be my beautiful butterfly.. No matter the outcome of my beauty i am still blessed. This girl is an amazing animal that is not phased by her past. She is loving and sweet. She does whatever I ask. When she cant I help her out. She loves belly rubs and love to sleep with her paw on you.. I think if she could get in my bed she would sleep right beside me. If Terry werent so big that is where she would be... lol The long and short of this is that she is showing improvements.. I will take that and feel blessed.
