Evening, its Alex Jackson with a Tasmanian Broadcasters election update. Countings been underway for an hour now after Tasmanians went to the polls today, with the Liberals apparently on track for their target of at least 13 seats. Early votes are trickling in from Braddon where the Liberals have nearly two-thirds of the vote, although the giant swing will even out as other booths come in. Palmer Uniteds bid for a seat could be in trouble with the early count putting them on seven per cent, while Labors on 15 per cent, nearly one quota. Recent polling indicates Labor will drop two seats from their current 10 in Parliament, while the Greens are likely to lose Paul OHalloran in Braddon to take them back to four MPs. Green hopes of a second seat in Denison appear unlikely to materialise, and the Liberals are tipped to pick up another three, one apiece in Bass, Braddon and Lyons. It would leave the current Opposition with an unbeatable majority in the 25-member House of Assembly. Sky News exit polling indicates a whopping 78 per cent of voters believe the Liberals will gain power, the survey also finding health and hospitals, the economy and education are the top three priorities for Tasmanians. The Opposition has campaigned strongly on all three with big-spending pledges to boost frontline services, shrugging off Labor claims the promises are unaffordable without massive cuts to the public service. Former Senator Guy Barnett is considered a strong chance to unseat fellow Liberal Mark Shelton in Lyons if the Libs fail to pick up a third seat while Tim Morris is likely to hold on.
