Event 143 - Season of Mists.... Autumn officially arrived in the UK on 23rd September and with it the misty mornings, but certainly not a drop in the temperature….so far! This week Eastbourne parkrun welcomed 131 runners for it’s 143rd outing with a super sixteen first timers, ten of whom had never done a parkrun before! So welcome to: Richard Potts, David Roberts, Joshua Buckwell, Robert Grew, Stuart Meeks, Philip Drake, Jennie Burgbacher, Brittmari White, Harry Pitman and Cherie Hardy. Hope you enjoyed the parkrun experience! Welcome also to the six first time visitors to Eastbourne: Tom Evans from the running club ‘My Legs Ache’ who usually runs at Kingston, Edward and Annabel Hadlow from Greenwich, Brian Davis from York and Mark Manley who has done one parkrun in Swindon and his 2nd parkrun at Eastbourne. Welcome to you all. It was also a great week for PBs with a terrific 24 runners recording a new best time this week, including all three top placed women with 3rd lady Kate Fowler recording her best time in 34 parkruns at Eastbourne. Other notable PBs went to Kate Waite, 29:40, her best time in 45 parkruns, Marco Fortmann, 21:33, his best time in 36 runs, Lance Boseley, 22:58 going under 23 minutes for the first time in 34 runs, Sharon Finch, 22:43, her best time in 17 runs at Eastbourne and Emma Richardson, 29:13, her best time in 13 parkruns Junior runners Matthew Laing and Charlie Moon were both chased to PBs over the line by Neill Horan who also managed to score himself a PB in the process! Gary Pibworth made it 4 PBs in a row, finishing in 20:50, his first time under 21 minutes and Sean Tester finished in 27:02, making it a clean sweep of a PB in every parkrun he has done so far at Eastbourne (9 in total!). Don’t forget, next week is a pacer week, so for anybody chasing that elusive PB next week is your chance. There will be pacer slots from Sub 35 minutes all the way down to Sub 21 minutes (still a couple of slots available for the super speedy: sub 19 and 20). So no excuses!! Also next week is the 10th anniversary of the first ever UK parkrun and as a celebration of this we will be visiting St Wilfrid’s Hospice coffee shop after the run for coffee and cake.
