Events that shaped 2014: Afghanistan Troops returned to the UK as combat operations came to an end in Afghanistan. A huge logistical operation to return all the equipment was months in the planning and services held in Helmand Province paid tribute to all those who had served. The UK’s commitment to support Afghanistan continues and there are still personnel involved in development projects, and serving at the Afghan National Army Officer Academy.
