Ever come up with a great money making scheme, only to find out that you were to late? I have decided that I should have set up my own insurance company a few years ago. I could have sold health insurance at a hundred dollars a month, a huge bargain, and made a lot of money. Of course, the policy would have had to be of the variety where there was a huge deductible, only paid 10% on doctor bills and prescriptions, only allowed two doctor visits a year, and one prescription. And there would need to be a clause that said that if anyone actually got injured or ill while covered, that I would retain the right to cancel the policy. Apparently , this is a policy that a lot of folks are clamoring to get back and keep! How many times have we read in the newspaper, or saw on television, where a destitute family had been paying for insurance every day for years, but when they needed it, found out if was useless? Many, many times. Of course, it is to late to start this business now, because the Affordable Care Act has prevented this type of fraud from continuing in the insurance field. So, the poor insurance companies have had to send out cancellation notices because Obamacare was making them raise their rates . Of course, everyone can figure out this con, and there is a movement to hold these insurance companies that have been ripping off innocent people for years....right? No? This is what it is about folks! We clamor for protection against fraud, we get it, and then get angry because we cant continue being used and abused. Beyond my humble understanding. One after a number, the sob stories that we see on the news about the person losing their insurance, and not being able to afford insurance now, are proven to be fraudulent, or misinformed at best. When pressed by legitimate reporters to actually produce the numbers, whoops.... A better policy at the same or reduced rates is almost always the actual result. Look, I think that the new health care law stinks! It did not go nearly far enough, it left way to much power in the hands of the insurance industry, it did not take on the ridiculous expense of medical assistance, and on and on. I would love to see massive improvements. BUT...it is a ton better than that which we have had, and it was pretty much all that could be obtained at this time and in this political climate. Compromise.....the bill is almost a carbon copy of the bill supported by Republicans a few years ago. How much more can you compromise than to say, ok, we will do it your way? I would like to be spending my time and energy on attacking the weaknesses of the bill, and would be glad to do so with Republicans if they were on the right side of the issue. Instead, time and energy has been expended simply countering the lies, misrepresentations, and deceit of those whose ONLY purpose is doing any and everything to oppose Obama. ENOUGH....tired of playing this game!
