Ever have a flash back memory, and wonder about the people involved? I had one.... I was 18, sitting on a bench at a bus stop in Beverly Hills reading a book. I must have been there an hour loosing myself in the story. Turning a page, I noticed an upscale old lady had come to wait for the bus... We exchanged glances and smiling nods and I went back to reading my book. Suddenly out of no where this van comes screaming up in front of us, a guy jumps out, the van takes off and goes around the corner, the guy grabs the old ladies purse and runs off after the van. Well, I jumped into action without even thinking (you would have too) and ran after the crook catching up with him before he reached the van. I grabbed the purse and he stopped, gripping tighter to keep me from taking it from him... we both pulled and my grip was like that of Gods at that moment; I would not, could not let go. He said he would kill me and I stared into his eyes and said with no words that he would not and could not... My stare must have spoke volumes because he let go! He ran to the Van and it sped off... I walked back to the stunned old lady standing at the bus stop and gave her the purse back. I dont think we ever spoke actual words to each other... I wonder what her take on the whole thing was? The bus arrived moments later and she got on, I stayed on the bench to wait for the next bus and finish my book.... I wonder what she said to the bus driver or her husband or girlfriends.... Do you think as jaded as people can be that she thought I did it for some expected reward? You know, like it was a set up to gain her confidence? That was the thought that crossed my mind at that moment and the reason I did not take that bus. Do you ever wonder about stuff?
