Ever read the 12th chapter of Luke? Im sure most of us will say yes, but if you havent or if you cant recall let me just recap for you. Its all about priorities and a key verse is where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. There are many things that matter in life. Our families, our personal ministries, our jobs and yes even our hobbies have a place in life. But what Jesus is saying here is GOD MATTERS and how we live is the indicator to what really matters to us. And the MOST important thing in anyones life is their relationship with God. So is Jesus saying put God first? Of course He is, but sometimes I think we get a little mixed up in how that really works. If were ever put in the position of making an either or choice then of course we know by Holy Scripture that we had better choose God. But in everyday functional life I believe what the Word of God teaches us is not so much God THEN something, but God IN something. In other words..God is the center of everything. God IN our family, God IN our job, God IN our hobbies. God belongs and wants a place in every minute of every day of our lives. If we center our lives around God then we WILL find that ever elusive balance and joy in everyday life. And we are assured that we will be successful by Gods own measuring stick in whatever we do. Well find ourselves praying more and more and studying more and more. We might even find ourselves ceasing to care so much about what we want in life and more about what Gods will in our lives, families, jobs, ministries, hobbies and on and on and on. YOUR kingdom come, YOUR will be done!! 15 Therefore be very careful how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 taking advantage of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 For this reason do not be foolish, but be wise by understanding what the Lord’s will is.....Ephesians 15:15-17
