Ever since I brought Gracie and her kittens (Marianne and Bethany) - TopicsExpress

Ever since I brought Gracie and her kittens (Marianne and Bethany) home, Ive been giving them canned mackerel once a day as a treat. I discovered fairly early on that the house dogs LOVED the taste of the brine that the fish are packed in (in the can), so I began mixing a tablespoon of the brine into warm water and using that as a dressing on the house dogs kibble. Tonight I opened a new can of mackerel, poured off the brine into a bowl, and trotted off to the barn to give the cats their treat. When I brought the leftover fish back to the house (I only give 1/2 a can at a time), every drop of brine was gone from the bowl on the counter. I looked around the kitchen, and met blankly innocent furry faces on all sides. Nobody was fessing up. I propped my hands on my hips. So. Is anybody going to admit to this? I asked sternly, meeting every innocent gaze. TOO innocent by half! Benji, ever the conciliator in any conflict, walked over and politely asked to give me a hug (he sits and taps my leg with one paw gently). I nodded to let him know it was okay, and he stood up on his hind legs to be hugged (hey, the boy weighs 90+ lbs, hes near about as tall as I am, I need a bit of warning first!). I patted Benjis ribs to let him know to drop back down, and thats when he messed up. There was a rumble from his belly, and the big galoot burped fish breath RIGHT IN MY FACE! He HAD to have known his goose was cooked, because he took off like a rocket for the doggy door and the back yard...lucky for him I was too busy gasping for fresh air to follow! Never a dull moment around here, I swear...LOL.
