Ever time I hear, Why would a loving God...?, I wanna answer back, Why should a holy God...? Its a strange thing to take one part of who God is, filter everything through it and then judge God- or toss out scripture- based on our understanding of that attribute. I would suggest for any of us- myself included- that arguing for a biblical position based upon the character of God is circular. What we know about God with any specificity is found in Special Revelation (scriptures). So if the scriptures present something that runs counter to how I view God, I dont change- or argue away- the very same scriptures that gave me my view of God. Rather, I add it to my view of a multi-faceted God.
