Ever wished you could try your hand at designing ecological solutions for Burlington? The University of Vermont’s student-designed ecological design competition: LivingPlace encourages teams, student-initiated projects, community artists, ecological practioners, innovative architects, and others keen on delving into sustainable applications for place-based ecological design in the Burlington area. Entries are due 4pm February 11, 2014. The competition is open to both local and non-local participants. The 2014 theme is the confluence of WATER, FOOD, PEOPLE. Competitors are tasked with creating a holistic design submission that integrates stormwater management, sustainable food production, and community engagement. Three sites (Burlington Waterfront, Burlington High School, and University of Vermont) have been selected. This is an opportunity for designs that include multi-disciplinary collaboration. Here is your chance to put your ideas and visions on paper. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three designs and there is the potential for one of the winning designs to be prototyped in the UHS GreenHouse courtyard next summer.
