Ever wondered who, what, where or why you got the name you have, - TopicsExpress

Ever wondered who, what, where or why you got the name you have, not including the facts of slavery that is. Well here is my story of the names that I carry. On baptism day my mum and dad had two names for me to be baptised with and both were after saints. Anthony and Vincent are both Catholic saints and Anthony is my patron saint. Vincent was my fathers name to me. But hey you all know me as Dalkeith and this is how I aquired this name. My immediate family from my dad and mum to my brothers and sister have the initials D.C, so when I was being baptised the priest suggested that I to have DC as my initials, so I was named Dalkeith after a small village in Scotland where that priest came from, so this is how I aquired my names . Well the family name is French by origin, and it is as well the name of a great king of France who conqured Europe long before St Lucia was even discovered. Got another tale to tell about this name Dalkeith. I first went to the SDA Accademy for one year because I was to young to go to St Marys. On enrolment day I was sitting in a form 1 class and my name was called out by the teacher, however two of us stood up. Yes, that was the first time I had known of another Dalkeith existing. Well a few years ago I met this Dalkeith(Foster) at the Nottinghill Carnival and asked him where or who or how did he get the name Dalkeith, and low and behold, he said that his uncle who is also his God-Father gave him this name. And how did he come up with the name, well he(uncle) lived no where else than Dalkeith, Scotland. So you see even with names the world is a small place. Cheers all. You guys should check out your names to see what stories comes to fruition, you may just be surprised by it all. Bless up and have a great day
