Every American has the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances, which is a very First Amendment thing. Every American also is entitled to the presumption of innocence, even when charged with a crime and that presumption cannot be rebutted unless there is evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that establishes every element of the crime -- no exceptions, not even when its a white cop or a black defendant or whatever. One rule for all. Yet I read a lot of hes a murderer stuff from people who should know better. Political leaders, those who purport to be journalists and others in the media want to skip the trial and proceed straight to the hanging. Were told that, no matter the verdict and no matter the evidence, some will forever be convinced of guilt. Were supposed to respect that kind of thinking? Id prefer to condemn it as bigoted, malicious and hateful. You can disagree and protest -- again, that First Amendment thing. But if you want your opinion heard and respected, then hear and respect the right of others to hold a contrary opinion. But if you riot, heave Molotov cocktails, destroy property, shoot up the place and shit, then all bets are off, and you deserve the reasonable, rational and foreseeable consequences that come your way, which include a well-fitting body bag.
