Every Arab country officially defines itself as Arab; most also - TopicsExpress

Every Arab country officially defines itself as Arab; most also define themselves as Muslim and cite the Quran as the primary source of law. People like me oppose the boycott movement because it does not only demand withdrawal from the territories conquered from Jordan in 1967, but demands that all of those descendants of those who were expelled or fled during the creation of Israel (5 to 8 million), many of whom are being held in camps by Arab countries and denied rights (or, in a case in Syria, being starved to death) so that they can be permanently desperate to return to Israel, be allowed to have Israeli citizenship. As the author of this piece said at Ottawa University on March 4, 2009 “I DO NOT BUY INTO THE TWO STATE SOLUTION. It is not just pragmatically impossible it was never a moral solution.. The first issue would be the right of return but if the refugees were to return you cannot have a two state solution like one Palestinian commentator remarked, YOU WILL HAVE A PALESTINIAN STATE NEXT TO A PALESTINIAN STATE RATHER THAN A PALESTINIAN STATE NEXT TO ISRAEL” Israeli Jews, half of whom are descendants of people who fled persecution in Arab countries (and most of the rest are descendants of people who fled persecution in other countries, apart from a small number of religious Americans and Canadians), are not going to support becoming a minority in a country filled with people who want (and have been taught) to kill them, let alone prevent them from exercising any kind of group national identity. This is why I cant even join in with the boycott of settlement products like SodaStream, even though I am not pro-settlement and support a two-state solution, since I dont support the ultimate goal of the boycotters. That is my position.
