Every day it seems I encounter more and more folks who are - TopicsExpress

Every day it seems I encounter more and more folks who are fighting the good fight for oceans, animals, and wildlife. Ive found that sometimes I have little differences in perspective or approach. Other times we are spot on close in our philosophies and views. But either way I believe that each person is making a valuable and powerful contribution. Too often I see folks fighting with each other because egos got in the way of judgement, or pride interferes with cooperation, or points of view or methods of action are different. It saddens me when I think of us all as a great animal conservation tribe. Because such little conflicts or spats weaken the tribe and our greater impact goals. I for one am grateful for everyone who is sincerely in this for a good cause. I dont have to agree with everything you do or say, and of course with over 3,500 friends here on Facebook alone Id be hard pressed to agree 100% with anyone, or even 75% with most of my friends. LOL. Thats basic human nature. Differences are fine. They make us the many colourful people that we all are. I never try to focus on what divides us. I try to avoid these conflicts. Ive gotten sucked up in ego and conflict in the past and its a terrible thing. I think it is far better to look to our commonality as a group and to be grateful to the men and women and young people who fight in whatever way seems appropriate to them, alongside of us. THAT is the true strength we have as a group! It is in this way that the tribe flourishes. So whether my friends are old or young, male or female (or hermaphrodites, I dont exclude!), whether religious or atheist, tall or short, vegan or omnivore, big or little, powerful or weak, and in whatever skin tone, hair colour, eye shape, or geographic location that makes up who they are, please know that I am immensely grateful for knowing all of you and I love you guys in a very broad and familial sense. Thank you for everything that you do. If I could share perhaps one productive thought with the tribe it would be this: I have seen too many people who serve the same side of a cause torn apart by minor squabbling or differences. I hope that you will look at others within our extended tribe of activists, conservationists, and ecologists and focus most on those areas that we share things in common and least upon the little differences that can so often flare up into contention or disagreement. Its alright to disagree, but we need not fight about. Focus on our common strengths and goals and our world will be richer and healthier for all living things. Cheers Folks!
