Every evening, the Church takes up the song of our blessed mother Mary as we sing her ‘Magnificat’ at the culmination of Vespers. Today’s feast of the Visitation recalls the context in which it was first heard, and so, invites us to reflect on the meaning of Our Lady’s words: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name. (Luke 1:46-49)
