Every place I have worked for the past 20 years had a policy about not accepting gifts to prevent the appearance of conflict of intrest and if recipient of one you could not prevent, declaring it. I find it funny that in this day and age a politician can receive the gift, presumably not put it on the register, write a personal thank you note and still not recall it. The question not being asked is why was this business person giving a gift in the first place? Surely it wasnt out of the kindness of their heart.
