Every single person Ive seen achieve health and fitness in the long run accomplishes it by simply showing up every day, not by trying to get it right. ~Dr. John Berardi It is the New Year and tons of people are making resolutions to finally get it right in 2015 and get fit. There is nothing wrong with that.....at all. Wanting to be fit is awesome goal. But, we all know the records of fitness resolutions. Gympocalypse occurs on January 2 and by March 2 we are hearing crickets. Why? With the best intentions we try to find a workout program or diet plan or even a detox plan that we just know will be the key to what we need. It is #beastmode or ALL IN or nothing. The sad thing is that these plans never live within the context of LIFE. LIFE happens. Our kids get sick. The school needs us. Work gets crazy. Throw in whatever LIFE brings in here. How do you go #beastmode or whatever when LIFE happens? Oftentimes, we miss a workout and then another and before we know it we have quit. Dont feel guilty. Weve all done it. *hugs* What if we chose to just do the best we can this coming year. No plans for #beastmode or ALL IN. Just to live in the ebb and flow of life and yet make healthy choices a priority. Do burpees in the living room while your kid is napping on the couch. Run laps around the school. Eat the better choices when and where you can knowing that sometimes you do have to eat the burger. The people who win in this fitness journey are the ones who show up and deal with the realities of life instead of having to get it right all the time. Forget perfection. Progress is good enough. Better is Better. :-)
