Every stressful thought separates us from people. So a good rule of thumb is to refuse to communicate with others when we are feeling upset with them, for we will only communicate our upset, and that never ever helps. So take time out and wait until you are in a calmer state of mind to communicate. The only exception is when you are upset and you clearly recognize that it is your own thinking that is upsetting you, not the person (it is never the person!). This way we take full responsibility for our feelings and can communicate without blaming, judging and making others wrong. This is such a powerful lesson that it can dramatically improve our communication and connection in all our relationships.
