Every summer my wife and I hop on the Harley and take the 3 hr. - TopicsExpress

Every summer my wife and I hop on the Harley and take the 3 hr. ride to Lowden State Park in Oregon Il. There they have a statue in honor of the Chief Blackhawk wars. I stand by the statue and look out over the Rock River. I try to erase the highways, houses, and all modern civilization from my sight. I imagine the beauty of the land when the Chief and his tribe lived there in peace and harmony with nature. Some sadness creeps in when I see in my mind the beauty of what it used to be, and what it is now. I realize time marches on, but cant help but feel how much better this world would be, if the land was still the Chiefs hunting grounds. I turn, pay my respects to the Chief, and ride on back to the modern world.
