Every year at The Euc, we take time to acknowledge that Mothers Day is filled with mixed emotions -- difficult memories as well as some lovely ones. Most of us did not have picture-perfect upbringings & our relationships with our mothering figures are complex ones. As our friend Kathy Escobar says, this upcoming sunday is a happy day for a lot of women... this sunday can be a really hard day for so many women (and men, too; sometimes it’s easy to forget they are affected... too). We pray you have the space to press honestly into the complexity of tomorrow. We pray you have moments of joy tomorrow, acknowledging the many women & men in your lives who have mothered you -- in ways big & small.
