Every year like clockwork (so much so you could put your house on - TopicsExpress

Every year like clockwork (so much so you could put your house on it!!!) in september sometime, thousands and thousands of Kokanee Salmon find their way to the creeks and streams that filter into Kootenay Lake. These particular Salmon are land locked, an outcome of the ancient glacial period. Surprise surprise, they still keep doing their thing.... Finding a great place to nestle in the rocky creek bottoms, fight for the best suited partners, lay their eggs and make the ultimate sacrifice for the future of their species, they die.... After so much effort invested in surviving it seems harsh, but life goes on. This is just part of the cycle. All sorts of creatures benefit from this mass annual fish buffet, necessary for the harmony of the ecosystem. See you next year Kokanee!!!!! (These snaps were taken from a couple of man made spawning channels throughout the area.)
