Every year on June 7, the Philippines marks “Filipino Migrants Day” – also known as “Araw ng Pasasalamat”. The day is celebrated in honor of the approximately 10 million Filipinos working overseas (OFW). This year marks the 18th annual observance of the Filipino migrants’ day. This national holiday consecrates the migrant worker as a “national hero” (Bayani), who – with his sacrifices – supports his family and at the same time the economy of his country, often with high cost to human level. Today my thought go to all Filipinos around the world, met or never known, to their families, to their tears of joy and pain. MABUHAY! Ogni anno il 7 giugno si celebra in Filippine il “Filipino Migrants Day” – noto anche come ”Araw ng Pasasalamat”. Tale ricorrenza onora i circa 10 milioni di lavoratori filippini all’estero (OFW). Questo anno cade il 18° anno del Filipino Migrants Day. Questa festa nazionale consacra il lavoratore migrante come “eroe nazionale” (bayani), il quale – con i suoi sacrifici – sostiene la sua famiglia e nello stesso tempo l’economia del suo Paese, spesso con alti costi a livello umano. Oggi il mio pensiero va a tutti i filippini nel mondo, incontrati o mai conosciuti, alle loro famiglie, alle loro lacrime di gioia e dolore. MABUHAY! - HAVE A NICE DAY!
