Every year when I do the Labor budget, PR manager is left blank. I am told every hotel has a PR manager to send out good press. Well I do as well and its called TA thank you all for your wonderful comments. I look forward to reading about your experience Thanks Patrick “Paradise Found.. Better than the Best!” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW After months of research and thanks to the advice I received on TA forums, I zeroed in on Komandoo. One of the best decisions I have ever made, I say :) A special thanks to PurelyMaldives (the agency I made bookings through) for their recommendations, unbiased advise and their zealous, co-operative staff. Let me start with the Komandoo airport lounge. It is lovely, clean and the staff is very polite and helpful. We had to wait for a couple of hours to board our sea plane but time just flew in the lounge. The lounge offered a good view and free wi-fi. We were also given 2 free water bottles (Bottled water is equivalent to gold in Maldives :) ) We had juices, coffee and sandwiches to satiate our hunger after a 5 hour flight. All was great! The seaplane is a must-do experience. The stunning view of the Indian ocean and unbelievable corals is good enough to make you forget the stuffiness inside the seaplane. 40 minutes seemed less when marveling at the unobstructed ocean views from top. The first Komandoo representative we met was Shaman. He was very courteous and answered my 101 questions regarding Maldives & Komandoo to his best ability. We reached the hotel around sunset. We fell in love with Komandoo the moment we stepped on its jetty. We received a traditional warm welcome along with wet towels, coconut ice-cream and coconut drink - delicious! We had 4 nights in beach villa and 2 nights in water villa. The beach villa offers sand and greenery and beautiful views of the ocean. It is very cozy and has a lovely open air bathroom. My husband usually finds hotel beds very uncomfortable but he loved this one and that says a lot! We were in Turtle 7 which is very close to the entry point. A few laps into the blue waters and you reach the reef. I read a lot of reviews complaining regarding the inhabited island hindering the views. I did not find it intrusive at all. It is very far away and just did not affect our stay one bit. But if you are a sucked for views to the infinity, make sure you get the sunrise side or you might be disappointed. Now, about the water villas - I fall short of praises. Great room, huge bathroom, a lovely jacuzzi and a huge deck with steps to the heavenly ocean. I spent most of my time of these steps gazing into the ocean, spotting fish and looking at the endless expanse of water. It was magical. Water villa is a must-do! The food, oh yes, the food! We were on half board. The food is scrumptious and plenty. We have never had such great food in buffets before. Some of our favorites were - the breakfast omelets, the soups, the pastas & noodles at the live counter, the Maldivian curries. We ordered from the Kandu bar on a few days and the chicken burger ranks amongst the best we have had. The Kandu bar is a gorgeous place to chill and have a drink while watching the setting sun. The drinks menu is expansive and exquisite. The staff is the best we have encountered. Usually, some are good and the others are not so good. Komandoo is an exception in that sense. Each and every member of the Komandoo team is amazing. I remember a few names - Shamam, Malda, Asif, Kumar, Cindy - and everyone else was par excellence. We met Patrick towards the end of our stay - what a warm fellow. You guys are the best team possible! The Duniye spa is a little expensive if you compare it to the rates offered in the touristy Thailand but nevertheless, it is a wonderful experience. The Him & Her massage at Duniye spa was splendid - very relaxing and invigorating. Highly recommended! The Prodivers center at Komandoo has a great team. We interacted with Josef who was very informative. We did one scuba dive with John and he is such a sweet guy! Made our dive really easy and fun! The next time I come here, I am determined to do an open water diving course. The prices in Komandoo are very economical unlike what other islands offer. That is what makes Komandoo so special and different. You get all the luxuries at a very affordable price. The island is spotlessly clean and well maintained. It is very small and private. No kids. It is SO romantic and surreal. Komandoo casts a love spell on all those who take up this heavenly abode. Now to the thing we loved the most about Komandoo - the house reef. It is beautiful beyond words. A few laps into the water and you get to the magnificent corals. We swam with fish of all types and colors and yes, also with turtles and eagle rays. It is thriving with marine life. Stand anywhere and look closer in the waters and you are bound to spot something new everytime. I cannot recommend it enough for those who love snorkeling and diving. Also, the beach is gorgeous - white sand, turquoise blue waters and everything. To sum up, we had the BEST time of our life in Komandoo. We will be returning to this paradise soon :) Tips: - Water Villas - Must do (at least once in life) - Take the plastic 1.5 L bottles instead of glass ones and save money. - Kandu Bar at happy hour. Best view, best cocktails, best prices. - Go a little early for dinner (7:30-7:45) to get the best seating ie. by the sea. - Sunrise side - calmer, sunset side - choppy. But snorkel on both side since they both have a lot to offer. We spotted 2 turtles on sunset side and 1 on sunrise side. The corals on sunrise side are a visual delight but the variety of fish on sunset side is astounding. Hence, do both. On sunny days, we snorkeled on the sunset side and on cloudy ones on the sunrise side. I would advise that. https://tripadvisor/UserReviewEdit-g298336-d316980-a_placetype.10023-e__2F__ShowUserReviews__2D__g298336__2D__d316980__2D__r206158567__2D__Komandoo__5F__Maldive__5F__Island__5F__Resort__2D__Lhaviyani__5F__Atoll__2E__html-wbefirst_ShowUserReviews_writeareview_top-
