Everybody, including gays, has human rights. It is the job of the government to protect their rights ~ Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Health Minister You know, we the citizens of the country tend to over-simplify and generalize things. All BJP people are conservatives - this one statement alone is one of the biggest examples of lazy thinking. Dr. Harsh Vardhan has spoken in favour of gay rights, something which hardly anybody might have expected him to do. Another data point - Vanathi Srinivasan, BJP general secretary for Tamil Nadu, last week released an LGBT-centred book written by Gopi Shankar in Madurai. I hope the BJP government follows this up with concrete steps and takes steps to read down Section 377 and legitimize love, in whatever form it appears.
