Everyday I see more and more posts from FIFO families upset that other people think their FIFO lifestyle is not good for their children, and receive a constant flow of media requests to discuss the negative effects FIFO has on children. Basically you are asking me to comment on a lifestyle that I have chosen that you believe is negatively affecting my own children. I do not know a single mother who would choose a lifestyle that she thought was going to hurt her child, and to think that of a parent is disgusting. Most FIFO dads I know are very involved in their childrens life and often get the bonus of spending more quality time with them. The majority of us are doing this to give our children the best we can and I for one are proud of the sacrifices my family especially my husband and other families like mine make and love the lifestyle we have. So my advice to those who are upset or feel unsupported by those around them well, dont listen to the haters, their opinion is none of your business and more a reflection of their own insecurities. Yes it can be tough at times, and it takes work to make it work but what family, lifestyle or relationship isnt. I am FIFO and proud and you should be to!
