Everyone has a Basal Metabolic Rate this is the amount of calories that the body will burn while resting everyday this can be between around 1500 - 2000+ depending on gender , age and weight. Adding 1lb of lean muscle mass burns an additional 50 calories per day 3500 calories equals 1lb of fat. Adding 7lbs will burn an extra 350 calories per day. Adding 14lbs will burn an extra 700 calories per day. A person with a BMR of 1500 that has built 2lbs of lean muscle mass will then burn 1600 calories a day then if a 30 minute Intense workout is performed this could then boost the total calorie count to around 1900-2000. High Intensity Training challenges the body so much that it can continue to burn calories and fat for up to 48 hours after exercise this all depends on how intense the session is.
