Everyone knows that onion prices are touching the sky. However - TopicsExpress

Everyone knows that onion prices are touching the sky. However none of us try to connect the hidden links. Oninon is one of the most widely consumed eatable item in India. Monthly onion consumption would be in certain crores kgs. If at an avg there is 45 rs rise in onion prices per kg this ends up to somewhere around 400 crore INR worth extra money. Considering this goes on for 2-3 months the amount goes up to 1200-1500 crore INR. Now lets look at the facts and start connecting: 1) In the past 10 years, between 2002-03 and 2012-13, onion production has jumped from about 42 lakh metric tons (LMT) to 163 LMT. Thats an increase of nearly 300% 2) In the same period, Indias population has grown by about 1.7% each year. So, unless the whole country has suddenly become onion junkies, where is all this onion going? 3) This year (2013-14) the production is expected to be 10-15% higher than last year, based on kharif crop estimates, says H R Sharma, deputy director at the Nasik based National Horticultural Research & Development Foundation, which is under the Union agriculture ministry. With such figures, it is difficult to make out why the prices are soaring so much. Guys it’s the last quarter of 2013. 2014 elections are round the corner. It is the most simplest way to make up funds for the malpractices to be done by the government for making every attempt to win the elections. Another thing that our govt will do is try to allocate some portion of this huge amount for the development of farmers or something to show people how much they are concerned and as usual the “bholi Janta” will be lured by these steps of government. It’s time to understand the long dwelling tactics of this utterly corrupt and inhuman government which is enjoying the most ultimate pleasures of being into power. It is like a parastite which is thriving by eating the country from inside. Its time to bring the change. Please take some time and think on all this. If we want our future generations live a peaceful life lets take this step and throw this govt out of power in the coming elections. Jay Hind.
